As worldwide reactions to the trend of massive open online courses (MOOCs) begin to become morerational, we offer a sober reflection on its core value to universities in developing countries. Behind the MOOC frenzy are profound needs for our time, which universities in developing countries should neither watch from the sidelines nor simply adopt. In contrast, we consider MOOCs beneficial to helping us recognize new requirements of the time, rethink the value of teaching itself, and transform the eoneept of teaching. By adopting the development trend of MOOC 3.0 such as creatively integrating open educational resources with traditional degree programs, we could promote the reform of traditional teaching methods and enable our outdated classrooms to enter the information era.
