摘　　要：人力车夫是随着人力车的引进而出现的一个庞大群体。由于人力车夫人数过多,他们之间的竞争十分激烈,一方面为了租得一辆车子与自己同行竞争,另一方面又在抵抗新式交通工具的应用之中挣扎着,同时还处于存废舆论的漩涡之中。人力车作为交通近代化的一种过渡,必然会被新式交通工具所取代,但是,在没有妥善安排车夫生计问题之前,任何冠冕堂皇的理由都经不起考验。With the introduction of rickshaw, rickshaw pullers are present in a large group. Due to excessive number of rickshaw pullers, the competition between them is fierce as they have to compete with their peers to rent a rickshaw; they also struggle against the application of new vehicles and are drown in the flood of public opinions concerning the abolition of rickshaws. However, as a transition of traffic modernization, rickshaws must be replaced by new vehicles. However, no one will be justified if we can not arrange the putlars＇ living properly.
