摘　　要：我国高校的英语专业面临着困境和挑战,需要改革和转型来解决专业生存和发展中存在的问题。由新一届教育部高等学校英语专业教学指导分委员会等单位主办的全国高校英语专业教学改革与发展学术研讨会从英语专业的发展方向、培养目标、课程设置、师资建设等方面进行了探讨。参会人员还探索了英语专业的培养模式、教材建设、教学方法改革等,对我国高等英语教育的发展有较高的参考价值和指导意义。The English majors in China are now facing difficulties and Challenges, which needs reform and transformation to tackle these problems in the development of the major. The development direction, cultivating goal, syllahus and construction of teaching staff are discussed in the national conference of higher English teaching held mainly by the new teaching guidance committee of English majors. Representatives from universities in China also have talks on the training model, developing teaching material and methods, which are very helpful to the development of China＇s higher English educa tion.
