摘　　要：在大学教育工具性、职业化倾向日益突显的大环境下,相对综合院校、外语院校以及师范院校英语专业显著的专业优势和良好的学科发展环境,地方理工院校英语专业的发展则步履维艰。如何坚守英语学科属性并结合院校特色,促进专业的理性发展和学生的全面进步,是地方理工院校英语专业发展面临的重要课题。明确培养目标、调整课程设置、优化培养模式是地方理工院校英语专业发展的必然选择。Facing with the tendency of considering college education as a tool and as a center of occu- pational training, the development of English major has been very difficult in local colleges of science and technology than the comprehensive universities, foreign studies universities and normal universi- ties. Thus, it has become an important issue that how to combine with the institution features to promote the rational development of English as an independent major English as a major and all-round progress of the students. A clear mind of the educational objectives, reform of the curriculum desig- ning, and optimization of the modes of cultivating talents are the inevitable choices.
