近代中国都市苦力劳动状况略论——以沪、宁、汉、渝为中心

摘　　要：都市苦力作为近代中国都市人数众多的下层社会群体,是"机械业不发达"及"丰富的廉价的没有技术的劳动力"大量存在等因素相互作用的产物。与近代工厂工人相比,都市苦力"专靠卖力气来吃饭",劳动强度更大;劳动时间长且不固定,经常"张着火红的没睡过的眼"不停息地劳动着;劳动场所以室外露天为主,"冬则风雪,夏则烈日"。In the cities of modern China,the coolies were in the lower class,and they are numerous. They were the product of the interaction of many factors,especially the underdeveloped mechanical industry and plenty of cheap,unskilled laborers.Compared with the modern industrial workers,the coolies relied simply on manual labor, and they worked very hard and long.Their workplace was mainly outdoors,so they had to work outside no matter how cold the weather is in winter or hot in summer.
