摘　　要：格尔木是青藏高原上的重要的新兴城市、中国西部的资源开发基地、支援西藏、维护西藏稳定的重要物资集散地和支撑点、我国西部的军事重镇，巩固西南边防的战略要地、西部地区经济发展的重要增长点和未来中国西部的中心城市，目前在城市发展中存在着综合协调管理难度大、城市规格过低、对外开放不畅、投资环境差及地方财力薄弱等问题，据此作者提出未来发展的重点和方向。Gelmud city is a newly developed one on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,which serves as a very important natural resource developing base in western China,material exchange and distribution base for supporting Tibet and maintaining its stability,important military key of western China and burgeoning point of western China economy increasing and a would-be central city of west China.In the past decades,this city has been greatly developed,but it also meets some problems which have to be addressed.With the presentation of the current problems the city is facing, the authors put forward reasonable suggestions. \ \
