摘 要:"吃菜事魔"与摩尼教有何关系,一直深受学术界关注,但囿于材料,终不能明确。所幸近期霞浦、晋江新发现了一些摩尼教文献、族谱及绢画,其中不少涉及"菜堂"、"菜院"等称谓,可知专指摩尼教而言。再联系当时北宋政府对明教的查禁,可以肯定"吃菜事魔"是北宋政府为查禁明教而给予的恶称。及至南宋,出于抑制非法宗教的需要,官方有意将"吃菜事魔"外延扩大,而佛道出于清理门户的需要,也将他们所认为的异端归入"事魔邪党"之列,致使明教与"吃菜事魔"之间的关系变得晦暗不明。Despite a very appealing issue, the relationship between Manichaeism and Chicaishimo 吃菜事魔 remains unclear due to limited information. Fortunately, some Manichean literatures, genealogy and silk painting have been found recently in Xiapu and Jinjiang. Many of them involve certain titles, such as Caitang, Caiyuan and so on. It is known that they refer to Manichaeism only. Considering the official prohibition of Manichaeism in Northern Song Dynasty,it can be certain that Chicaishimo was the evil name for Manichaeism. Then, the government of the Southern Song Dynasty extended the meaning of Chicaishimo intentionally in order to inhibit illegal religions. For checking up their own religions, Buddhism and Taoism also listed the heresy in their mind into the Party of Chicaishimo. As a resuit,the relationship between Manichaeism and Chicaishimo became obscure.
