摘　　要：西部大开发是中央２１世纪的战略决策。要发展经济，首先要发展科教，增强科研成果和新技术向现实生产力的转化能力。在这个转化中，运用现代信息技术和现代远程传播技术来研究西部地区的科技传播，是可持续发展的可选择出路。本文从现代传播与传播技术，西部贫困地区的现状以及现代传播技术所产生的影响进行了论述。Development of western regions is the strategic policy made by our central government for 21st century. To develop economy, the first step is to develop science and education and increase the ability of transforming scientific research findings and new technologies into current productivity. As a result, it might be a way out for continual development to use modem information technology and distance transmission technology in the research about science technology dissemination in western regions. This article will mainly focus on three aspects, i.e. modem transmission and transmission technology, the current situation of western poverty-stricken areas and the effects of modern transmission technology on it.
