摘　　要：以往对英语It-分裂构式的研究已取得丰硕的成果,但也遗留了不少问题。我们结合It-分裂构式的句法语义特征对其进行进一步探讨,指出在It-分裂构式中所谓的"分裂"并不存在,因为许多分裂构式并不具有与之对应的基本式;It-分裂构式形成了一个以定指It-分裂构式为中心的典型范畴,其典型成员具有预设性、对比性和排他性、有定性和事态性等句法语义特征。The previous study of English It-cleft constructions has made great achievements, while many questions still left unsolved. The paper explores the syntax-semantic characteristics of It-cleft constructions and points out that the so-called ＂cleaving＂ process does not exactly exist since many cleft constructions do not have their corresponding basic forms, h-cleft constructions have formed a prototype category with specifieational h-clefts as the prototype. The typical It-cleft constructions embody the characteristics of existential presupposition, contrastiveness and exclusiveness, definiteness and non-even- tiveness.
