明清西方人士对科举制度的认识

摘　　要：近代西方人士基于西方视角或自身经历,对中国科举制度的考试功能、考试体系、传统教育等进行独特分析。他们肯定科举制度的选拔功能,却对其阻碍教育、耽误人才发展的消极方面深为叹息。他们欣赏科举制度设计的周密,但同时以西方人的身份指责科举考试内容的落后。这些论断和认识对于今天人们研究科举、反思教育,意义尤其深远。Modern westerners give a unique analysis about the function, system and traditional education of Chinese Imperial Examination System, based on their own experience or western perspective. They give a positive attitude about Imperial Examination System in selecting talents, but have a deep sigh for the negative effects such as hindering education and the development of talents. They appreciate the thorough design of the system, but at the same time, they criticize backwardness of the examination content as westerners. These statements have far-reaching significance for studying Imperial Examination System and reflecting education for us today.
