回声话语分类及其语用功能探析

摘　　要：提出Quirk等对回声话语的分类存在分类标准不一致,将特殊疑问词开头的特殊疑问句也归类为wh回声问,回声问的分类不合理,对于回声问和回声感叹的区分模糊等问题,并对回声话语进行了重新分类。认为回声话语具有要求对方对回声话语进行重复或证实,要求对方解释回声话语,弥补谈话时短暂的话语间隙以进行思考,表明说话人已接收到前面的话语内容,表达说话人不同的态度和情感等语用功能。Four doubts are raised about Quirk et al＇s classification of echoic utterances： Quirk et al apply different criteria while subdividing recapitulatory echo questions; the wh-question with the wh-element fronted as in nomal wh-questions is included in the wh-echo questions; the classification of echo questions is unreasonable; the distinction between echo questions and echo exclamations is not clear. Then a new classification of echoic utterances is put forward. Echoic utterances have a variety of pragmatic functions： asking for repetition or confirmation,asking for clarification,filling a conversational gap,showing that one has received the previous information and expressing various attitudes and emotions.
