摘　　要：The Chinese nation is well- known for its tradition of respecting the elder. In the traditional society,the elder could get comprehensive security with social pension insurance system and family protection,which is also the native cultural advantage concerning the aged tendency of population at present in China. In the modern society,China shall reconstruct a multi- leveled old- age security system consisting of support from governments of various levels,organizations,communities,civil organizations and families on the basis of the Chinese culture. Then the old people in the traditional society and in the modern society are both supported by families as well as society; with the state taking the responsibility,the old people live well both physically and mentally.The Chinese nation is well - known for its tradition of respecting the elder.
