摘　　要：本文在全面概述前17届国际档案大会(简称ICA)基本情况的基础上,总结出国际档案大会是国际档案界学术交流的平台、学术合作的阵地以及国际档案学发展的窗口,具有增强各国发展档案学意识、提高国际档案学学术研究水平、促进国际档案学学科建设、缩小档案学发展地区不平衡以及促进国际档案理事会与其他国际组织密切合作等作用。This article introduces the fundamental state of the first seventeenth International Congress on Archives （ICA for short）, points out that ICA is the academic platform of international archival academic exchange, the front of international archival academic cooperation and the window of international archival development, and furthermore, summarizes that the function of ICA is enhancing the worlds＇ consciousness of developing Archival Science, raising the level of international archival academic research, improving international archival discipline construction, decreasing the imbalance of international archival development, and promoting the cooperation between International Archival Council and other international organizations.
