摘　　要：在为利益与权势扭曲的世界，孟子“如欲平治天下，当今之世，舍我其谁也？”这一诘问的本质何在？其真意彰显在孟子“羞比管晏”、“好辩”与“愿学孔子”的生存抱负之中。Editor＇s Note： The cultivation and promotion of socialist core values must be based on Chinese traditional culture. Confu- cianism is not only a knowledge system of traditional Chinese culture, but also a belief-based value system for the Chinese nation. It is closely related to Chinese people＇s spiritual life. The realization of ＂Chinese Dream＂ is inseparable from the root of Confucianism, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is impossible without restoring Confucianism. This panel discussion presents two very important perspectives of Confucian orthodoxy and Confucian benevolence to redefine the essence of Confucianism and the application of benevolence in interpreting destiny, life and death, and responsibility. The first article starts with the importance of classical studies to analyze the traditional Confucian orthodoxy, and proposes the new concept of orthodoxy and corresponding ＂New Four Books＂ based on the idea of ＂Internal Saint and External Monar- chy＂. The second article dwells on the sense of sublimity and religion represented by ＂benevolence＂ in the Confucian con- cept of ＂destiny＂. The third article sorts out the various considerations and choices for ＂benevolence＂ in Confucianism in the face of life and death. The forth article analyzes the significance of ＂benevolence＂ as human nature in Mencius＇ idea of ＂responsibility＂ and cultural aspirations from multiple perspectives. Their discussions relate to some of the essential aspects of Chinese people＇s spiritual life, and their concepts and ideas are of positive effect to the rebuilding of core values in con- temporary Chinese culture.
