Objective To investigate the effects and possible me chanism of n-3 fatty acids (n-3FA), fructose-1,6-diphosphate (FDP) and glutamine (GLN) on absorptive function of posttransplanted small bowel in r ats. Methods 196 inbred strain Wistar rats underwent heter otopic small bowel transplantion (SBT) as donors and recipients respectively. n -3FA, FDP and GLN were given via gastrogavage as well as venous infusion with t otal parenteral nutrition (TPN) solution for 10 days before and after surgery. T ransplanted small bowels in living bodys were perfused with^(15)N-glycine ( ^(15)N-Gly). Absorpted ^(15)N-Gly and its plasma abundance were analyz ed.Results n-3FA+FDP+GLN group had the highest abundance volume of 1, 2,3h, 9.0times, which were 3.0times and (2.5)times of nonessential amino acids (NEAAs) respectively in the control group at the sa me time. In other experimental groups, the raising rate and abundance valume of ^(15)N-Gly were much high er than in the NEAAs control group (P<0.05).Conclusion n-3FA, FDP and GLN supplementation for specific nutritional support could sig nificantly enhance glycine absorption and improve the absorptive function of pos ttransplanted small bowel to nutrients.
