摘　　要：In 1831,a young biologist named Charles Darwin boarded the H.M.S.Beagle.His journey to the South Pacific and South America would last five years.The purpose of the trip was to prepare maps.The crew also planned to observe and collect plants and animals.As the ship's naturalist, Darwin took many notes.He kept carefial records of what he saw.He collected many different kinds of plants and animals.He also collected tiny fossils of different organisms.Fossils are the remains of long-dead organisms.
