摘　　要：男人与女人之间的关系以及在这一关系中表现出来的施虐、受虐倾向,在劳伦斯所处的时代不是人们公开谈论的话题,《恋爱中的女人》因此使用数个动物意象来象征性地表达作者对这一问题的理解和认识。杰拉德与古德兰和阿拉伯牝马、兔子俾斯麦之间的互动,象征着制服与占有的不正常不健康的关系,公猫米诺与野母猫之间的互动则象征着有争斗又有独立的和谐健康的关系。动物在劳伦斯的手里成了一种蕴含深厚的象征符号。The relationship between men and women,the sadistic and masochistic inclination in this relationship were not open for discussion in D. H. Lawrence’s time. Therefore,in his works Women in Love,his opinions about this topic were symbolically represented through animal images. The interaction between Gerald,Gudrun and the Arabic mare,the rabbit Bismarck symbolized the abnormal and unhealthy relationship of conquering and possessing. The interaction between the tomcat Mino and the wild female cat,on the other hand,symbolized the harmonious and healthy relationship,in which there was struggle as well as independence. In this way,animals became meaningful symbol marks in Lawrence’s works.
