摘　　要：从《终身大事》的孤独亮相到《哥伦比亚中国现代戏剧选集》的出版,从中国翻译者的勉力推荐到海外大学文学博士的主动选择,中国现代戏剧作品在英语世界的传播走着一条主动寻求对话到渐有回应之路。与小说、诗歌的海外传播相比,中国现代戏剧的传播数量有限,且主要集中于田汉、李健吾、曹禺、丁西林等经典作家作品,覆盖面较窄,但中国现代戏剧在新文学发生的第一时间向西方展示了现代中国文学的发展与成绩,力求为西方文学建构可以对话的东方"他者",几乎奠定了西方对中国新文学经典的认识与评价基础,并从此在海外汉学研究中注入了中国现代戏剧的元素。From the lonesome appearance of the "Lifelong Events"to the publication of "the Columbia Anthology of Modern Chinese Drama",from the enthusiastic recommendation of Chinese translators to the active selection of literature doctors from overseas universities,the dissemination of modern Chinese theatre works in the English -speaking world took the initiative to seek dialogue.Compared with the overseas dissemination of fiction and poetry,the dissemination of modern Chinese drama is limited,and it is mainly concentrated in works by classic writers such as Tian Han,Li Jianwu,Cao Yu,and Ding Xilin.The coverage is narrow.The modern Chinese drama plays an important role in the new literature.For a time,it showed the development and achievements of modern Chinese literature to the West,and strived to construct Eastern "the others".Thus,the spread of Chinese modern drama laid foundations for the Western understanding and evaluation of Chinese new literature classics,and from then on infused with elements of modern Chinese drama in overseas Sinology studies.
