摘　　要：新世纪的中国林业面临着新形势、新任务、新机遇、新挑战。新世纪的中国现代林业建设事业是一项伟大的事业 ,也是一项需要不断探索、创新的事业。需要进一步发展和完善现代林业的概念、内涵、内容、标准、指标和优先领域 ,推动以“点”、“线”、“面”为基本构架的中国森林生态网络体系建设 ,以使其成为实现我国生态良好目标的重要途径。中国现代林业的发展必须坚持生态优先原则 ,以林业可持续发展为主线 。The forestry in China is facing new position, new task, new opportunities and new challenges in the new century. The construction of modern forestry in China is a great project which needs to explore and innovate constantly. It is needed to develop the concept and enrich the connotation of modern forestry. At the same time, we should also consummate the criteria and indicators, confirm the priority, so as to promote the establishment of forest ecological network whose framework includes micro and macro levels, and make modern forestry an important approach to realize ecology soundness. The development of modern forestry in China should insist on the principle that ecology is the priority and the strategy of forestry sustainable development, so as to contribute more to ecological soundness.
