摘　　要：MPEG 4标准面向众多而非特定的应用 ,它属于基于内容的第二代编码技术。首先介绍了MPEG 4支持的新功能和特点 ,然后分别从系统、音频和视频 3个方面详细讨论了MPEG 4的主要内容 ,最后介绍了MPEGThe MPEG 4 standard addresses a wealth of applications instead of a specific one.It belongs to the second generation coding technologies,such as content based coding.First,new functions and characters of the standard are introduced.In the following content the three main parts,system audio and video,in the MPEG 4 are discussed in detail.Profile/level and applications are listed in the end of the paper.
