摘　　要：中国西部是土地沙漠化面积最大，发展最快，危害最为严重的区域。土地沙漠化是西部大开发所面临的影响区域经济、社会、环境协调发展和资源可持续利用的问题，也是西部生态环境建设首要解决的问题。文章通过对全国沙漠化普查与监测数据的分析，重点论述中国西部沙漠化的分布和动态，及其对西部社会、经济、环境的影响，为西部生态环境工程建设和规划研究提供依据。Abstract: Western China is the largest area of land affected by sandy desertification with the fastest expan-ding, which causes a great loss to this region. It is a problem affecting development of western China in re-gional economy, social activities and environment, and the sustainable utilization of resources. It is also acrucial problem to be solved in the construction of ecological environment in western China. Based on theanalysis of results of the national land sandy desertification inventory, this article mainly discusses the dis-tribution of the land affected by sandy desertification and its development, the impact on social activities,economy, and environment in western region so as to refer the construction and planning and/or researchof ecological environment in the region.
