摘　　要：文章介绍聚集型和融合型两种主要的外语教育模式,提出外语学习普遍信奉和推行的五个信条;通过对核心英语国家和周边英语国家主要采取的外语教育模式的对比,阐明外语教育不能单纯追求核心英语国家所推行的外语教学模式,外语教育必须与国情联系,与本土文化特点相联系,推行立足本国语言及文化的多元文化教育模式,提高语言学习效果,促进跨文化交际。This paper begins with the introduction to the English education by comparing the two main modes in both the core-english speaking countries and periphery English countries, discusses five popular tenets in this field. Then the paper further emphasizes the importance of taking all the political, economic, cultural and social factors into consideration. Then a multicultural education mode is proposed in order to promote the effect of lan-guage learning and intercultural communication.
