市民文学与平民文学之争

摘　　要：关于中国古代通俗文学的社会基础,长期存在两种理解:一种认为通俗文学的社会基础是市民阶层,甚至直接称之为市民文学;另一种认为通俗文学的社会基础是平民阶层。这两种理解长期存在,市民文学提法占据上风。然而市民文学理论体系来自欧洲,在中国运用有生硬牵强之处,平民文学观念体系更适合中国国情。实际上平民与市民两种体系并不是对立关系,而是互相支持互相依存的互补关系。中国通俗文学的发展,与平民阶层的发展壮大,也是同步互补的关系。About the social basis of ancient popular literature in China,there are two kinds of understanding for a long time,some people think the popular literature is based on citizen stratum,even which directly was called citizen literature.Another think that is based on civilian estate.These understandings exist for a long time,the ideas of citizen literature have the upper hand.Compared with citizen literary theory,civilian literature concept system is more suitable for Chinese national conditions.In fact,civilians or the citizens is not antagonistic,but support each other.The development of grassroots promote the progress of Chinese popular literature.
