顺应理论视域下的小说对话翻译研究——以《聊斋志异》中的人物对话英译为例

摘　　要：顺应理论认为,语言交际过程是为了满足最终的交际需要而不断做出选择的过程。以这个理论观点来看,小说对话是为了满足小说世界的交际需要而不断做出选择的过程。更具体地说,小说中的人物对话是一种特殊的语言运用形式,是小说中不可缺少的部分。因此,对话翻译的好坏直接影响小说译文的整体性、可读性以及信息传递的完整性。同时,对话翻译还是一种间接交际活动,受到来自各方面语境因素的影响,所以,在进行对话翻译活动的过程中要不断地做出顺应性的选择。本文从顺应理论的视角出发,以蒲松龄《聊斋志异》中对话的两个译本进行比较,进一步分析顺应理论在对话翻译中的作用。According to the adaptation theory, the process of language communication is a process of making multiple choices in order to meet the communication requirements. In this theoretical point of view, dialogue in the novel can be regarded as a process of decision making in order to meet the communication requirements in the universe of the novel. Specifically, the dialogue between the characters is a special form of language use. It is an important part of a novel. Therefore, the quality of the translation of the dialogue has a direct impact on the wholeness, readability, and the integrity of the information transmitted in the translated version of the novel. Since translation of the dialogue is an indirect social activity, which is affected by the factors from different contexts, many choices have to be made in order to keep the dialogue adaptive during the process of dialogue translation. From the perspective of the adaptation theory, by comparing the two different translated versions of Strange Tales from Make-Do Studio by Pu Songling, this essay analyses the role of the adaptation theory in translated dialogue.
