摘　　要：当代美国作家菲利普·罗斯的小说主题不断嬗变。在其半个多世纪的创作生涯中,各种主题元素反复交叉出现,前后期创作主题形成延续与突破关系。通过对其前后期作品的主题对比分析,本文指出,菲利普·罗斯通过各种主题元素的协奏处理,再现了犹太人在身份荒野不停流浪与追寻的生存状态,异化、冲突、死亡和反抗等主题在一定程度上成为了人类生存状态的隐喻,具有了普世的价值和意义。本文强调,其后期小说的社会主题为作品注入了鲜明的时代元素。这些多重文化并行的要素,形成了作家文本世界的内在逻辑统一,构成小说悲剧性根源的互动,强化了作品的批判性和悲剧性。The themes of modem American writer Philip Roth＇s works keep evolving. In his long creative career, which is more than half a century, a variety of themes re- cur repeatedly, forming a tension of continuation and in- novation. Through comparing and analyzing some of these themes, this article points out that by coordinating differ- ent elements, Philip Roth presents the Jews＇ experience of continuous wandering and pursuing in the wilderness of i- dentity. In his works, the topics of alienation, conflict, death and resistance metaphorically reveal the experience of human beings, and thus attain universal vaiue and sig- nificance. This article also emphasizes that Philip Roth＇s later works absorb social themes and exhibit a contempo- rary feature. These parallel thematic elements strengthen the logical unity of the works, and form the interaction of tragic roots. Meanwhile, they cast a tragic and critical light on his literary creation.
