摘　　要：本研究以访谈的方式探究出国交换对语言和跨文化交际能力的影响。4名北京某高校英语专业三年级的学生参与了本研究,他们均在大三时参加了出国交换一年的项目。结果显示,尽管被试觉得难以融入当地文化,但觉得自己在语言、学业和跨文化交际方面都有很大的收获:英语语言水平提高了,学术能力增强了,更有经验与不同文化的人交流与相处,对不同文化更加开放和包容,等等。因此,笔者建议更多的本科生参与出国交换项目,同时建议派出学校提供更好的信息资源以帮助交换学生更好地适应当地的生活和学习,取得更大的收获。The present interview study investigated the effect of study-abroad experiences on students＇ linguistic and intercultural communication competence. Four undergraduate English majors from a university in Beijing, who joined a one-year exchange program in their third year, participated in the present study. The results showed that the participants benefited greatly from the exchange program in terms of linguistic and intercultural communication competence. They reported that they had improved their English proficiency and academic ability, had become more open to and tolerant of different cultures and had been better at communicating with people of different cul- tures. Even so, they found it difficult to blend in with the local culture. Based on these findings, some suggestions are put forward.
