劳伦斯作品中的“星星平衡”与“完整自我”

摘　　要：劳伦斯认为,在工业革命中,由于人们对物质的疯狂追求,使得人与人之间的关系,甚至是夫妻或恋人之间的关系也变成了机械的、占有与被占有的关系。因此,人与人之间必须要建立一种积极的、和谐的关系,才能摆脱工业革命给人类带来的厄运。"平衡"是建立这种和谐关系的基础。在他看来,男性与女性之间的关系就应该像天上的两颗星星一样,既要相互吸引,又要相互排斥,保持"完整自我",这就是劳伦斯的"星星平衡"原则。这个原则贯穿于他的一系列作品中:由《儿子与情人》中男女之间的不平衡,到《恋爱中的女人》中男女之间的初步平衡,再到《查泰莱夫人的情人》中男女之间的完美平衡。For Lawrence, the industrial world is a world of decadence anci oestrucuon wnere peulJ^c always tend to possess, even devour each other because of their desires for material wealth. The only way to save the world is to establish positive and harmonious relationships between man and woman. Balance is the principle that guides these relationships where man and woman have their freedom and in- dependence. It is a relationship of both attraction and repulsion, like two stars in the sky. The star-equi- librium relationship in Lawrence＇s metaphysics is represented in Sons and Lovers, Women in Love and Lady Chatterley＇ s Lover.
