The unique tribal history and cultural psychology of Taiwan's aboriginal people together with their oral tradition result in their pristine natural worldview. This worldview, which brings human and the natural world into a perfect integration, is an ontological view of nature. Under the influence of this natural worldview, Taiwan's aboriginal literature, through its special treatment of places like mountains and oceans, depicts aboriginal people's life that is greatly involved with the mountains and oceans. This literature shows the natural and holistic features of ecological aesthetics, revealing a unique beauty in ecological existence. As aesthetic texts that are free from anthropocentrism, Taiwan's aboriginal literature's value in the building of ecological aesthetics and ecocriticism should not be underestimated.
