Objective Restrospectively analysis the changes of the cognitive function and electroencephalogram (EEG) in 44 Alzheimer disease patients and to explore the relationship between both of them. Methods Restrospectively analysis the clinical data, Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) 、 Mini-Mental State Examination ( MMSE ), Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) ,Activities of Daily Living(ADL) and 4 h video-EEG results of 44 patients diagnosed as Alzheimer disease, from October 2013 to October 2014,who visited the Congnitive Impairment Department of the first hospital of Jilin University. Results The abnormal rate of EEG was 84.1% , characterized by slow background rhythm, different degree of sharp wave, sharp and wave complex, spike wave, spike and wave complex appeared in unilateral or bilateral temporal region, mainly on the right side of the temporal region. The degree of EEG abnormality within AD patients was parallel with the duration of disease and the degree of the declining of cognitive function of the patients. Conclusion EEG can be regarded as a reliable and objective indicator to reflect the cognitive function in AD patients, which is significant to know the progression of the disease and to judge its prognosis.
