写什么和怎样写:十七年小说的生存限度

摘　　要：小说的价值在于其"写什么"的独一无二性和"怎样写"的最大发展空间。从解放区的扩展到共和国的建立,新的世界和新的生活使小说面对新的"写什么"的课题,并带来小说自身能写的无穷可能性、小说叙事方式的多样性和小说家被允许写什么、怎样写的有限性之间的矛盾冲突。当"写什么"决定了一切,排斥了"怎样写",小说的生存空间就大大萎缩;而当"写什么"被封闭进规定的"写生活是什么",小说生存的限度就更加岌岌可危。The value of stories lies in two aspects： what to write and how. As for the former, uniqueness is the most crucial and for the latter, the maximized possibilities in choosing narrating methods. In the seventeen years from the expanding of the liberated areas to the founding of the new republic, the new world and new life endowed stories with limitless possibilities in what to write and with the diversity in narrating methods. On the other hand, writers were refrained from choosing whatever to write and however. When the “what” overrides “how”, the existing space of stories was shrinking seriously; when the “what” was limited to “what life is like”, the existing space of stories was even more threatened.
