“方式移动动词”还是“动作动词”——英语移动事件表达中方式动词的成份意义与构式意义分析

摘　　要：Talmy把世界语言按照移动事件的表达方式分为两种类型:附加语构架语和动词构架语,前者主要用[方式移动动词+路径附加语]结构表达移动事件,通常有丰富的方式移动动词;后者主要用[路径移动动词]结构表达移动事件,没有丰富的方式移动动词。英语是较典型的附加语构架语。关于汉语的类型划分,学界一直存在争议,因为汉语既表现出附加语构架语的特征,同时又具有动词构架语的特征,如汉语多用附加语构架模式表达移动事件,但方式移动动词类型远不如英语丰富。本文以此为研究问题的起点,对英语中的方式移动动词范畴的定位问题作深入探讨。研究发现:英语中的方式移动动词范畴构成一个等级性链条,可以分为不同的类型。有些类型表达的是移动发生的内在方式或常规方式,是典型的方式移动动词;有些类型的动词本身表达的只是动作,但是在和路径短语连用后却可以获得移动意义,这是由构式对动词的压制作用而产生的意义,动词本身不是方式移动动词。同时,基于使用的语言观表明,语言使用会影响进入自主移动构式的动词用法的规约性,造成它们之间等级性的差异,并且会引起词类范畴的转换。Talmy has proposed the binary typology of Satellite-framed and Verb-framed languages, which is based on the lexicalization patterns of motion events. In Satellite-framed languages （or manner languages）, manner is expressed in the main verb, or man- ner of motion verbs and path in satellite. In Verb-framed languages （or path languages）, path is expressed in the main verb, manner in satellite. Different types of languages also differ in the lexicon of manner of motion verb, of which Satellite-framed lan- guages have a large vocabulary, with English as a typical example far surpassing those in Chinese. Based on Goldberg＇ s Con- struction Grammar Theory and Langacker＇ s Usage-based Theory, with the corpus method, this paper explores the nature of man- ner of motion verb category and their use in motion event expressions in English. The present research shows that the manner of motion verb category is a spectrum with some verbs as typical manner of motion verbs, some verbs at the margin of this category, and some verbs in between.
