摘 要:所谓的元语用学是对语用学研究自身的考察、审视和反思,是对语用学研究中方法论和理论体系建构问题的思考。在语用学发展日趋成熟的过程中,对其理论基础、研究对象、语用原则及其解释力等进行反思、审视,有利于语用学的健康发展。然而,从科学分类的角度看,似没有必要建立语用学的元学科,元语用学的相关研究内容可归于语用学本身的研究范围。Metapragmatics discusses the way we define and do pragmatics , and examines issues such as why one definition of pragmatics is better than the other , what kind of relationship pragmatics has to semantics , how many principles we want to work with in pragmatics, whether or not we should include an activity such as conversational analysis in our pragmatic studies , and so on (Mey, 2001).According to Mey, there are three ways of dealing with metapragmatics:(1) As a theoretical discussion on what pragmatics is, and what it should comprise;(2) As a discussion on the conditions and possibilities that enable people to act by using words , to'do'pragmatics by acting pragmatically;and (3) As the pragmatic pendant to the metalinguistic level , often captured under the label of'reflexive language'.The article, while making comments on Mey's Metapragmatics, suggests that it is not necessary to establish a new scientific category such as Metapragmatics .
