摘　　要：李书田(1900—1988)早年为留美工学博士,归国后相继任北方大港筹备处主任、交通大学唐山土木工程学院院长、北洋工学院院长、西北联大常委、西北工学院院长、黄河水利委员会副委员长等,有着丰富的工程技术实践和工程教育实践,是中国现代工程教育的奠基人之一。其"国家危亡之挽救、中华民族之复兴","尤其以应用科学为国家富强枢纽"的救国抱负;"内求生存之自给,外御强暴之侵凌",工程教育当"出其工程学术以解决之"、"出其所造就者以担当之"、"设计创置并厘定运用之"的战时教育方针;"深厚的科学基础"、"实际的工程技术"、"组织与管理能力"、"创业与刻苦的志气"、"研究中国实际问题的兴趣"之"五端"树志模式等重要思想,无论是在争取民族独立解放的世界战时科学教育研究史上,还是在中国现代科学教育史研究上,均具有重要的探索价值。As a Doctor of Engineering studied in USA, LI Shu-tian （1900-1988） shoulders the Director of Preparatory Office of North Big Harbor, the President of Tangshan College of Civil Engineering at Transportation University, the president of Peiyang Institute of Technology, the Standing Committee of Northwest United University, the President of Northwest Institute of Technology, and the Vice Chairman of Yellow River Conservancy Commission etc. in succession after coming back to China, who has rich practices on engineering technology and engineering education, and is one of the founders of modem engineering education in China. Important thoughts of him such as the ambition of saving country by ＂saving the nation from the crisis, rejuvenating the Chinese nation＂ , ＂ particularly taking applied sciences as the pilot of national prosperity＂ ; the wartime education outline of ＂pursuing self-sufficiency of survival in home, and resisting insult of violence from abroad＂, and engineering education should ＂provide its engineering researches to solve problems＂, ＂provide its students to shoulder missions＂ ,＂ designing, creating and deciding the method of application＂ ; and the ＂five aspects＂ ambition establishment mode of ＂deep scientific foundation＂ , ＂practical engineering technology＂, ＂ organizing and managing ability＂, ＂entrepreneurship and hardworking ambition＂, ＂interest of researching practical problems of China＂ etc. Both have important exploring significance not only in the world history of wartime scientific education research of struggling for national independence and liberation, but also in the research of history of modern scientific education.
