宗经典为古师《史》《汉》为文——林纾《春觉斋论文》古文用字论

摘　　要：林纾《春觉斋论文》是桐城派末期重要的古文理论著作。林纾认为:古文之所以为古,与古文家师法儒家经典与《史记》《汉书》等典范的古文有关,而古文用字不当所致谬误多与古文家不谙经史有关,古文实词的拼集、虚词的妙用皆可取径于经史,欲求古文雅洁,有必要研习经传及《史记》《汉书》。尊奉经典的同时又注重师法《史》《汉》,是林纾的古文用字理论的重要特征。Lin Shu’ s Chunjuezhailunwen was the representative of the classical prose theory of the later part of Tongcheng School. He pointed out that why classical prose seemed as classics, why classical prose had certain classic elegance flavor, just be?cause the classical prose writers modeled themselves after Confucian classics and historical works, while they were unacquainted with them, errors might often be seen in their classical literary articles. He pointed out that the usage of choosing content and function words should follow the example of Confucian classics and historical works. If one wanted to make his classic prose elegant and spot?less, he should study Confucian canon Historical Records, and the History of Han Dynasty. Revering Confucian classics, mean?while, paying attention to imitating Historical Records and the History of Han Dynasty was an important feature of Lin’ s theory a?bout his classic prose words usage.
