对曾纪泽使法日记的形象研究——以语词为中心

摘　　要：晚清驻法公使曾纪泽留有一部长达5年多的使法日记。尽管它多记录"平凡琐屑"的日常生活、公务,但若从语词入手,仍可从中勾勒出一幅鲜活的法兰西形象。语词是构成形象最基本的元素,由此切入,却有可能牵连出历史、思想、精神等深层次问题。本文从这部流水账似的使法日记中选取两词,尝试从词源、语义及翻译等方面进行研究,考察这位晚清外交官如何言说法国、建构法国形象,同时展示出中国传统观念、语言文字围绕这两个词的"现代化"进程。Zeng Jize, the embassy to France in later Qing Dynasty, left a diary of his sta- ying in France of over five years. Though it mainly recorded everyday trifles of routine life and work, a vivid image of France will come into being if analyzed from its vocabulary, which is one of the basic elements of images. The vocabulary can be studied for historical, theoretical, and spiritual probes. The paper is to choose two words from the diary to make etymological, semantic and translational studies to reveal how the Chinese diplomat of later Qing Dynasty described France, constructed the image of France while exhibiting the mod- ernization of Chinese traditional ideas and language around the two words.
