摘 要:加拿大高校的文化多样性程度正在不断提高。有两大社会力量推动了这一变化趋势:一是移民,二是国际学生的增加。移民和国际学生给学校带来了他们自己的价值观、语言、文化和教育背景,丰富了教育的文化环境。为了实现一种全纳的教育,人们有道德和教育上的责任来包容这些差异和多样性并将之融入校园生活的方方面面,包括教与学。然而,在日常生活中和文化多样性朝夕相处时,我们仍然遇到了很多挑战,例如,"色盲(colourblind)"和"差异即缺陷(difference as deficit)"的观点仍然存在,部分原因就在于对多样化的知识缺乏以及缺少必要的应对准备。希望通过考察培育高校文化多样性的三种常用模式来弥补这一不足。这三种模式分别是:跨文化教育模式、多元文化教育模式和反种族主义教育模式。期望该研究对于多样化现象盛行的加拿大以及其他国家的大学社区所有助益。Canadian universities and colleges are becoming more and more ethnoculturally diverse.Two major social forces have contributed to this change:immigration and increasing enrolment of international students.Minority and international students bring their values,languages,cultures and educational backgrounds to Canadian campuses,which adds to and enriches the educational environments.To build an inclusive education,the ethical and educational responsibility is needed to embrace such difference and diversity and to integrate it into all aspects of university life,including teaching and learning.However,in the daily encounter with cultural diversity there still are many challenges,such as the perspectives of "colourblind" and the "difference as deficit",partially resulting from a lack of knowledge and readiness to approach diversity.The goal of this paper is to bridge this gap by examining three selected models commonly used to nurture cultural diversity in higher education:the intercultural education model,the multicultural education model,and the anti-racist education model.It is hoped that this discussion will benefit the university community in Canada as well as in other countries where diversity prevails.
