国外远程教育研究方法计量分析--以ERIC收录期刊(2007-2013年)调查为例

摘　　要：学术质量提升已成为当前远程教育研究发展的关键,而研究方法是否应用得当直接关系到研究成果的质量高低。目前国内对远程教育研究方法的分析还较少,主要是从学术渊源或者形成角度进行比较宏观的研究,有必要从更为微观的角度对远程教育研究方法进行分析。西方远程教育研究起步较早,且研究方法很早就进入了科学研究的范畴。其规范的研究步骤以及注重实证的研究取向,值得国内远程教育研究借鉴和学习。对国际公认的四本远程教育研究代表性刊物2007-2013年发表的论文进行调研发现:研究主题、性别、国别等对远程教育研究方法的选择有一定影响;某些研究方法之间存在固有联系。总的来说,当前国际远程教育研究中,定量分析较常使用量表(问卷)以及描述统计分析法;定性分析较常采用访谈和定性分析法;在收集资料的过程中,量表(问卷)是使用最为频繁的工具;在分析资料的方法中,统计分析方法,尤其是比较简单的描述性统计和二元相关等运用较多,聚类分析等高级统计分析方法运用得较少。另外,在展示结果的方法中,表的使用频率较高。研究还发现,目前收集资料的研究方法使用还比较单一,而分析资料的研究方法已经越来越复杂、多元。可以预见,为了更深刻地揭示研究现象,解决研究问题,综合运用定量与定性研究数据,从混合角度分析研究数据的趋势会越来越强,研究方法的使用将更综合化、多元化。Scholarship enhancement is critical to developing research in distance education, the quality of which is affected by the appropriateness of research methodology. Research methodology is an understudied issue in China with only a few studies focusing on macro perspectives. It is argued that a micro perspective may shed light on the methods most commonly used in distance education research. Given that Western countries are ahead of China in the use of scientific research methods, this study used the articles published in four internationally-reputed journals in the field of distance education(2007-2013)as samples to investigate the choice of research methods in distance education scholarship. There are several major findings from the investigation. Scales/questionnaires and descriptive statistics are most often used in quantitative analyses while interviews and qualitative analysis are frequently found in qualitative studies. Scales /questionnaires are the tools most frequently used to collect data. When it comes to data analysis, statistics analysis such as descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation is used far more often than advanced statistics such as cluster analysis. And tables are frequently used to present findings. Findings from this study show that there is increasing complexity and variety in terms of data analysis methods as opposed to lack of diversity in data collection methods. It is predicted that research methodology of a mixed nature, for example, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, will be increasingly in use. Findings also indicate the impact of research topic, researchers' gender and nationality on the choice of research methods.
