摘 要:本文探讨1910-1920年间风靡巴黎和伦敦的佳吉列夫俄罗斯芭蕾舞团对弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫小说创作的影响,认为该舞团激发了伍尔夫去刻意追寻小说的新的表现形式,并由此提出了"封套"和"变化的节奏"的概念,前者强调世间万物的自由自在、丰富多彩,后者强调事物的存在和发展变化所具有的内在韵味和节律,这两个概念之间构成某种张力,奠定了伍尔夫新的小说形式的基础,标志着其文学理念的升华和小说创作中理念与实践的完美结合。This article attempts to explore the influence of Diaghilev 's Balles Russes( popular in Paris and London in the 1910 s and 1920s) on Virginia Woolf and her novel writing. It discusses and analyzes the elements of Russian Ballet and dance motifs in her novels. It points out that they stimulate and inspire Woolf to pursue in earnest the new form of expression of the novel,which helps develop her two idiosyncratic concepts of 'envelope'and 'changes of rhythm',the former emphasizing its freedom,abundance and variety of things in the world,and the latter stressing the internal rhythm peculiar to the existence and changes of things. A tension therefore is formed between them,which has come to form the basis for Woolf's new novelistic form. The article concludes that these two concepts mark a new development of her literary ideas and a perfect unity of concept and practice in her novel writing.
