Objective:To explore the correlation between load level of major caregivers of patients with liver cancer and the status of social support. Methods:200 cases of primary care for hospitalized patients with liver cancer as the research object, and the investigating was done by the general information questionnaire, Zarit caregiver burden scale and the social support rating scale and questionnaire survey. Results: The load level of the caregivers of liver cancer patients mainly is at a moderate level, the total load score was (52.8±13.6); and social support was in the middle level, total score (24. 77±3.28), lower than the national normal level ( P〈0.05). The main caregivers'load and the dimensions of social support were negatively correlated ( P〈0.05). Conclusion: The caregiver burden is common in major caregivers of patients with liver cancer, and the level of burden was negatively correlated with social support. The less the major caregivers acquire social support, the heavier burden they have. The nurses should pay more attention to caregiver burden as well as social support, and take more nursing interventions to improve their social support and decrease their burden.
