摘　　要：地方本科高校转型发展是高等教育内外部规律共同决定的历史使命,而如何实现转型发展则需要通过院校研究来深入探求。从历史的维度看,院校研究的产生、发展是高校面对质量、效益和变革问题的理性诉求。从价值的维度看,需要通过院校研究"自我研究"、"管理研究"、"问题研究"的本质取向,追寻转型发展的深刻内涵。从实践的维度看,院校研究发挥功能、推进转型,需要文化氛围的营造、科学方法的使用以及研究网络的构建。The transformative development of local colleges is the historical mission determined by both in- ternal and external laws of higher education, while how to achieve the task needs further exploration through institutional research. From the perspective of history, the emergence and development of in- stitutional research is the rational appeal of higher institutes facing quality, efficiency and change. From the perspective of value, institutional research is needed to pursue the profound meaning of the transformative development through self-research, management-research and problem-research. From the perspective of practice, institutional research needs the establishment of cultural atmosphere, the use of scientific methods and the construction of research network, in order to be functional and pro- mote the transformation and development.
