多重文本下的人生困境——《我打电话的地方》的叙事结构与主题解析

摘　　要：卡佛小说《我打电话的地方》紧紧围绕戒酒中心这一空间展开叙事,采用即时性叙述、回溯叙述与第一人称视角的叙事策略,交叉讲述彭尼个人经历和叙述者本人故事,同时插叙其他酗酒者的不同故事,构成了小说的多重叙事结构。在小说里,叙述者和彭尼及其他酗酒者的故事相互映照,生动展示了戒酒者戒酒生活的原初状态和真实面目,揭示了人性的原生态特点以及因酗酒产生的人生危机,巧妙地表达了人物身陷困境仍不失去希望的主题。此外,小说文本与作家现实人生之间的某种关联构成了小说的隐形文本,深化了小说内涵,成为作家创作的一个里程碑。Where I Am Calling From by Raymond Carver is a story about some American alcoholics who stay in Frank Martin＇ s--an Alcohol rehabilitation center. By using the strategies such as real-time narrative, flashbacks and the first person perspec- tive, Carver portrays these alcoholics＇ miserable life. The narrator ＂I＂, J.P. and the unnamed narrators, all these characters＇ life stories constitute the multiple narrative structure of the novel. In this narrative world, the narrator, J.P. and other alcohol- ics＇ stories mingle together and vividly show the original state and the true features of their miserable life. The novel also reveals the human nature of those alcoholics and their spiritual crisis. The theme that the people in despair still do not lose their hope finds ingenious expression in the usage of the multiple text structure of the novel. In addition, the internal connection between the novel and the writer＇ s personal life reminds the reader of the invisible text of the novel and deepens the connotation of the no- vel which is a milestone for Carver.
