Objective:To estimate the feasibility and application value of magnetic resonance oxygen extraction frac-tion imaging (MRI-OEF)in ischemic stroke. Methods:Thirteen patients with ischemic stroke were enrolled in this study. All subjects underwent DWI,3D-ASL,OEF,and routine magnetic resonance imaging (T1 WI、T2 WI、T2 FLAIR)scanning. The differences between ischemic region and the contralateral normal area in OEF、vCBV、R2 * maps were observed. Results:Six of the thirteen patients showed high signal on OEF maps, four of the six demonstrated high signal on both vCBV and R2 * maps, one demonstrated low signal on vCBV maps and normal on R2 * maps, one looked normal in both vCBV and R2 *maps.Another seven patients showed low signal on OEF maps,of which six showed low signal on both vCBV and R2 *maps, the other one demonstrated high signal on vCBV maps and normal on R2 * maps.Conclusion:MRI-OEF could be an additional method in evaluating the hemodynamic changes and assessing aerobic metabolism of cells in cerebral ischemic tis-sue,also it might have a great potential application in ischemic stroke.
