摘　　要：汤亭亭在《中国佬》中植入多种图像符号,图像符号与文字符号一起构建文本表征系统,直接参与到意义的编码与生产之中。图像符号本身因其丰富性和系统性而构成一个视觉表征系统,与文字表征系统形成互相阐发、互相碰撞的互文性关系,混合交织而成图像句子,不断地为小说文本生成新的意义。表征文本是权力斗争的主要场所,在《中国佬》的视觉表征体系中,"帝国权力"将包括华裔、越南人在内的亚洲群体表征为属下与他者。作为掌握"在地权力"的边缘群体的一员,汤亭亭借助"在地化文本"进行反表征——运用图像句子来质询"帝国权力"将华人祖辈从主流历史中抹除,通过定型化的意指实践将其种族化、他者化,从而建构华裔族群自己的历史与身份。Maxine Hong Kingston implants a variety of image symbols in China Men,which participate in constructing the representation system of the text with letter symbols and in producing its code and significance. Abundant and systematic,the image symbols themselves constitutes a visual representation system,and continuously creates new meanings that collide with each other in the literal representation system. The text is a place of power struggle in the visual representation system of China Men,presenting Asian groups including Chinese and Vietnamese as the other.
