Objective To explore the relationships between parity and other factors and occurrence of uterine fibroids. Methods The research data was from the Dongfeng-Tongji retired ex-employees cohort study, 14 280 middle and old-aged women with intact informa- tion were selected as research subjects from the cohort. Multivariate Logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between parity and occurrence of uterine fibroids. Results The prevalence rate of uterine fibroids was 15.7% (2 239/14 280) . Multivariate Logis- tic regression analysis showed that compared with the women with birth history for one time, the risk ratios of uterine fibroids in the women with birth history for two, three, and four or more than four times decreased gradually, OR values were 0. 793 (95% CI: 0. 702-0. 897), 0. 666 (95% CI: 0. 558-0. 794), and 0. 543 (95% CI: O. 422-0. 700) . The risk of uterine fibroids decreased with the increase of parity. Conclusion Multiparity can reduce the risk of uterine fibroids, which may be the protective factor of uterine fibroids, the findings suggested that the occurrence of uterine fibroids should be paid attention to among the women with less parity.
