摘　　要：旅行是印度裔美国作家蒋帕·拉希莉小说最重要的主题之一。这既与美国经典文学的传统有关,也与拉希莉本人的离散经历密不可分。在《同名人》的旅行书写中,第一代移民通过频繁返回母国的旅行表达对故国与家园的无限依恋,希望实现文化寻根,然而因为物是人非,这种努力往往以失败而告终。这种失败使离散个体认识到除了向前走,自己已经无路可退;第二代移民通过旅行加深对母国文化的理解,实现与母国文化的协商以及对自己多元文化背景的认同;拉希莉的人物在旅行中实现自我成长,在不断的移动中建构一种离散的身份。For Jhumpa Lahiri,an Indian American writer,travelling is one of the most important themes in her fictions.This is not only in line with the tradition of American literary canon but also has an inevitable relationship with the author＇s own diasporic experience. By analyzing the travel writing in Namesake,this paper tries to reveal the important connotations of such an experience for the characters： for the first-generation Indian immigrants,travelling as a reflection of their nostalgia for the home country as well as a way of searching for cultural root often ends up in failure,because both the home country and the diasporic people have changed. This failure has spurred the characters to realize the fact that they have no way of retreat but move foreword; for the second-generation immigrants,travelling has deepened their understanding of their home country. Thus they achieved a negotiation with their home country culture and multi-cultural background. In this fiction,through travelling and constant mobility,the characters finally gain an initiation and reconstruct a diasporic identity.
