摘　　要：跨文化语境题材的创作必定面临"他者"语言的处理问题。通过考察世界文学史,发现这类题材的作品对于"他者"语言主要有三种不同的处理方式:"越俎代庖"、直接运用和语码转换。语码转换具有独特的文学性功能,主要表现为:具有强大的表现力,能够以小见大,以少胜多,甚至无声胜有声。文学作品中语码转换表现出的主要特征有:非重点性、情境性、提示性。语码转换的运用必须遵循一个原则:保证叙事的连贯性和流畅性。A writer will inevitably encounter the challenges of dealing with＂other＂language（ s） when he / she is creating the exotic works. Through the study of the history of world literature,we finds that there have been three ways to treat＂other＂language（ s） ： substitute,direct use and code- switching. Code switching has an unique literary function,that is,it can reveal the grand significance with a few switched codes and in an objective way. There are three literary characteristics of code- switching：1） it always appears in the narrations of less importance; 2） it works contextually; 3） it can be understood by means of intimation.To ensure the narrative coherence and fluency is the main principle one should follow when switching codes in his / her works.
