摘　　要：邵洵美翻译马克·吐温的《汤姆·莎耶侦探案》于1954年初版,后几经再版,销量俱佳,继而被认定为名译。其成功的背后,既有外在的、偶然的因素,又有内在的、必然的原因。本文试图通过对该书英汉文文本的仔细阅读与对比研究,对其出版前后相关社会历史背景的解读,对其原因进行探析判断,旨在更好地欣赏译者创造的精美译文,同时,也为文学作品的翻译实践提供一些参考。SHAO Xun-mei’s Translation of Tom Sawyer,Detective written by Mark Twain was firstly published in 1954. Since then,it has been republished for several times and selling well,which makes it a famous transla-tion. Its success comes from the external,accidental factors and internal,necessary factors. We try exploring them by careful reading and comparative study of its Chinese and English version and by interpreting the relative histori-cal background before and after its publication,in order to have a better appreciation of the beautiful translation and to give some suggestions on the practice of literary translation.
