摘　　要：近些年来,国内外学者对技术与社会之间相互关系的主题研究愈加热烈,而这一主题恰恰是SHOT及其会刊T&C创建时的主要研究对象。回顾SHOT和T&C的发展,美国凯斯理工学院的工程教育、专业技术的历史研究以及欧美工业博物馆的建设、历史学家克兰兹伯格等人的努力促成了SHOT的创建。SHOT经历了半个多世纪的发展,对技术史学科发展做出了巨大贡献。In recent years, the relationship between technology and society has drawn more attentions than ever be- fore from the domestic and foreign scholars, and this is precisely the theme of SHOT and its journal ＂T ＆ C＂ when they were created. Retrospecting the development of SHOT, we find three crucial elements in the emergence of SHOT： the engineering education at Case Institute of Technology in America, academic disciplines and industry museums in the United States and Europe, the ambitions of Melvin Kranzberg. SHOT has developed for more than half a century. It has made tremendous contributions to the academic development of the history of technology.
