文本之寓与身份之喻——多重语境下的富兰克林身份神话管窥

摘　　要：富兰克林洞悉身份之要义,其自传更是一部有关身份的文本寓言,满含有关身份追求与建构的隐喻。然而,富兰克林理想身份的定义远远超越了单一的自传文本,而是在其墓志铭、遗嘱、自传等多重文本和历史语境中,书写了一个"三位一体"式的身份神话,即将自己作为印刷人的职业身份、作为诗意作家的艺术身份、作为隐喻国父的文化身份融为一体,从而将个人在职业和艺术层面的身份诉求升华为国家和民族在文化层面的集体认同。Benjamin Franklin knows clearly the significance of identity,and his autobiography is a textual allegory about identity,which reveals a metaphor of identity pursuit and construction. However,the construc-tion of Franklin’s ideal identity goes far beyond his autobiography,but is embedded in the historical and multi-textual context of his epitaph,wills and autobiography,among which Franklin has converged his profes-sional identity as a printer,artistic identity as a poetic writer and cultural identity as a metaphorical national father into an inseparable integration,thus presenting before the world a myth of“trinitarian”identity. In this way,Franklin managed subliming his personal identity pursuit in profession and art into the whole nation’s collective recognition on the cultural level.
