摘　　要：公共艺术是一个新概念,没有这个概念的时候公共艺术也存在。公共艺术是一个综合的概念,是城市发展到一定阶段的产物,它具有公共性、公众性、共赏性。2005年我有幸参加了在美国纽约举办的公共艺术城市峰会,聆听了十几个国家相关城市的公共艺术介绍,感受到公共艺术在不同的城市、不同的管理部门,人们对公共艺术广义和狭义的概念和管理的范畴是不一样的,而城市雕塑是公共艺术的重要内容。纽约对公共艺术的内容定义是最广义的,包括雕塑、壁画、装置、艺术设施及社区公众的行为表演等等。The author is the director of Beijing City Sculpture Construction Management Office. As a manager, he introduces the construction and development of city sculpture in Beijing. He pointsoutthat city sculpture in general is the core of public art.He also explainshis understanding of public art from management perspectivethatpublic art refers tothe art shared and enjoyed by the public in public space and it emphasizesto get the public participated in public space in a popular and easy-to-understand way.
